I really think Apple should ship Macs with AMD processors and sell them for less since that AMDs aren't as expensice (except the the FX ones).

Why's that? Go cheaper than a mac already is?

Because for an iMac here I can buy it for $3500 USD. For that price I can build a Core i7 980x computer and have it run a heck of a lot faster than that iMac will.

Imacs are $3500? In that case I'll sell the one my brother got for free that's slow as hell and build myself a pc!
The other day I saw someone running windows 2003 server R2 in a vm with 16GB of ram. The heck does he need all that for a vm? I'm assuming he had 32gb, since you're not supposed to go over half...

Right now I would kill for even an iMac because my thermal sensor is at 71 degrees, my GPU thermal sensor is at 85 degrees and my CPU is running at 68 degrees. I'm surprised I haven't had a thermal shutdown yet. I just have the stupid warning alarm going off and it's quire annoying.

Wow you could cook an egg over that thing!
Mine stays about 30-35degrees. I've never had a heat problem, though I might after I decide how much I'm going to over clock it! I was thinking of going from 2.4ghz just to 2.5, but maybe I should really push my pc to 3ghz?

You're right. If I were to open the case and put a sheet of foil down I could cook an egg. However I wouldn't do that because with my luck it would slip and fry the system (if the heat doesn't do that for me)

I'm already experiencing side effects. I'm getting a head ache from the stupid thermal alarm. Unfortionatly the video rendering process is only 29% done after 2 hours. Yay, another 6 hours of this.

What are you trying to render? Some like 5gb video?

You might try rendering in the cloud if you don't like the noise ; )

I used to use an iMac at work, the 27" 2009 model, and I know it was only about $1400 new. It was a very nice, very capable machine, and it looked great!

1270.
Along that subject, I found amoebaos can take uncompress a zip with a password, even if you don't know it. Maybe amoebaos can start supporting .rar and .7z?
